Conflict of Interest

All authors, reviewers and editors are required to disclose any conflicts (competing interests) that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work.

Conflicts of interest may be financial (for example, funding, employment, consultancies, honoraria or patents) or non-financial (for example, personal, academic or political relationships). Authors must declare all sources of funding and any competing interests in a dedicated statement within the manuscript; where none exist, this should be stated explicitly.

Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. Undisclosed conflicts that come to light after publication may result in a published correction.
