About the Journal
The Journal of Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences (JBELS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Copperbelt University through the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Research and Innovation. JBELS provides a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, and postgraduate students to share original scholarship across the business, economic, legal, and social sciences.
The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case studies, and policy analyses. Its scope spans business studies and management sciences, economics, law and policy, public administration, development studies, gender studies, applied ethics, the humanities, music and the creative arts, and peace and conflict studies, among other related fields. Drawing on the expertise of the School of Business, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Dag Hammarskjöld Institute for Peace Studies, and the Directorate of Distance Education and Open Learning, JBELS encourages scholarship that connects rigorous analysis with real-world social and economic challenges.
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure academic integrity, analytical rigour, and scholarly relevance. JBELS is committed to open science: every article is freely available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, authors retain copyright of their work, and there are no submission or publication charges. The journal publishes six issues per year.
By disseminating high-quality, regionally grounded and globally relevant research, JBELS aims to inform policy, strengthen institutions, and contribute to sustainable social and economic development in Zambia and the wider region.
